Kom Kom here

Nice little NW blew through on Friday evening and a surprising amount of rain hit the deck and the wind developed a chill that had winter written all over it. Not deterred a few of us headed up to Kommetjie on Saturday after Noel had spent a full 4 hours there in the morning on his lonesome and had fantastic lift. We had to endure a bit of a rain squall and then had some airtime and unfortunately had one glider write itself off due to a shortage of telemetry at a distance. Nuff said but certain fruit should stay in trees…
Saturday turnout of Georg, Lionel and myself a bit disappointing given the conditions were just epic.
Sunday delivered a very nice cool, day up at the Kommetjie slope. All and Sundry had a good time while we spent quite a bit of time setting up some of Lionel’s models, notably the Aldij which had a dicky battery and was fairly lucky to make it back to the landing zone at all. Lionel, Georg, Steve, Ryan, Noels Dad and new arrival Charles spent the afternoon on the hill. All in all it was quite a technologically challenging weekend as the bleeding fruit just kept popping up everywhere….
and in between this and other bits and pieces it was very good fun.
Sunday morning glory as the peninsula puts on her best skirt
Noel’s Dad having a good day on the slope
Ryan puts his Aldij through it’s paces
and then Steve got the chance of a lifetime to launch a plane perfectly…
and did quite well actually
Some of these may not have gone amiss on the weekend!
A great day out. Thanks to Kevin and Steve for the advise and help. A great bunch of guys. It took me about 5 min to put it together Fruit = HK Orange gear.
Don’t worry, repairs are already underway.
Thanks again guys.
