Safety Rules
PRE-FLIGHT SAFETY CHECKS
1.Before touching your transmitter, first check the availability of your frequency both on the frequency beg board and verbally with those already flying.
2.Check the structural integrity of the airplane e.g. cracks on any part, condition of all hinges and any unacceptable movement or play on any part of the airframe.
3.Check the mechanics of the plane e.g. servo arms, push rods, ball links, clevis’ and wing bolts. Be sure that the Centre of Gravity (CG) is correctly set up.
4.Confirm the status of both the on-board and transmitter battery. Make sure you have selected the correct model on your transmitter, that all the switches work plus are in the correct position to launch and that the moving surfaces are not just moving but moving in the correct direction and with full unhindered movement.
5.With the help of a fellow pilot, check signal strength by carrying out a range check.
LAUNCH
6.Make sure your transmitter aerial is full extended and that the receiver aerial is also full extended and secured in that position.
7.If possible, confirm that the conditions are acceptable for the plane you wish to fly.
8.Announce, so that all pilots on the pilot line can hear, that you intend to launch.
9.Visually check and verbally confirm that no planes are about to fly past so around the launch area.
10.Launch and start to fly the designated flight pattern.
FLYING
11.Planes may not be flown within 10 meters from pilots or spectators unless requested and accepted by all other pilots and which will not put anyone in potential mortal danger.
12.High-speed fly by’s must be called so all on the pilot line can hear.
13.Any flight path that may be potentially dangerous must be announced. Examples are, flying towards the slope, crossing the slope edge, passing from high to low altitude in close proximity to the slope edge.
14.A pilot who experiences any problem beyond his control must immediately inform all those around of the potential danger.
LANDING
15.Pilots must clearly announce their intention to land.
16.Any pilot, who is not sure of his ability to land safely, must ask for assistance.
17.Pilots must be sure that the landing area is clear of people, cars and planes.
18.If a failed attempt to land forces a plane back into the flying area, all other pilots must immediately be made aware of the situation.
19.Once the plane has landed, collects it and leave the landing area as quickly as possible. Remove you peg from the frequency peg board and inform those still flying that the landing area is now clear.
