Gliding the lift fantastic at Snake Head
With the TOSS AGM scheduled for early on Saturday afternoon, it pushed most of us out of the loop in terms of a Saturday slope session, but the AGM was really good, with a new sparkling committee chosen to handle the affairs of TOSS for the year. Well done lads and good luck!
Committee for this year is as follows:
Jeff Steffen (Chairman)
Schalk Human (Vice Chairman, Treasurer)
David Semple (Secretary)
Sunday however turned out to be one of those insanely perfect days that are garnered at Slangkop, or as we call it, the Kommetjie slope. Slightly to the South Earlier on in the morning, it did a very elegant turn to the South West by lunchtime and stayed true to that bearing for the day. And boy was it perfect! Super smooth, buoyant and in the 20-25km range for the whole day meant a large number of gliders airborne at the same time and on a constant basis. I cannot remember a moment where there was not some form of glider airborne in the 6 hour session, from the combat BEE wings to the high speed gliders. A large gallery of visitors gathered throughout the day to stare in wonderment as 10 or so BEE’s took to combat at one time… more than we have had in many a month. The result was many a hit, many a lost plane and bags of confusion, laughter and generalised mayhem. That was a fine day indeed and thanks to the large contingent of TOSS members who turned out on the day, it rates as one of the best for a long time. Chris, Christo, Steve, Lionel, Jeff, Nic, Bill, Malcolm, Schalk, Ralph, Kevin and Gerald, with a late showing by Ryan and kids.
Thanks to Steve for some awesome shots this week of the superb action.
